Local authorities benefit from advanced solar and charging technology
On September 17, Elisabeth Schmidt from the Energiebezirk Freistadt hosted a successful regional roadshow at the SOLAR SKY PARK Freistadt. Numerous municipalities from the region attended to learn about the latest innovations in e-mobility and the forward-looking use of parking spaces as sources of renewable energy.
Charging with sunlight – affordably and efficiently
Alongside regional car dealers presenting modern e-vehicles, the focus was on the SOLAR SKY PARK concept itself. Ludwig Gattringer and Daniel Wagner introduced the “Charge with the sun” model, where charging stations deliver electricity at reduced rates during periods of sunshine – linked directly to market-based electricity pricing. For municipalities, the SOLAR SKY PARK offers not only a cost-effective way to charge electric fleets, but also the opportunity to make optimal use of existing PV systems on public buildings.
Emergency power supply included
Another highlight was the explanation of how the SOLAR SKY PARK can be directly connected to a municipality’s PV systems, allowing locally generated electricity to be used immediately within the community. In emergency situations, this setup can even provide backup power for critical infrastructure.
With this integrated system, municipalities are well prepared for the transition to e-mobility – and at the same time strengthen their energy independence.
