Stars, ships and a good portion of Mühlviertel.
In 2018, a work of art floated above Linz - literally: a two-and-a-half tonne "flying ship" made of steel, designed by Russian artist Alexander Ponomarev and built by INNOVAMETALL for Höhenrausch. After the end of the exhibition, the ship was put into storage and the idea continued to float. Klaus Pichlbauer did not let go of the artwork. He searched for a new location, a new story. And came across... Cows. And stars.
"The Stars, The Ship and the Cows"
Late in the evening, on the grounds of GLUATNEST in Freistadt, the artist had the idea:
"The Stars, The Ship and the Cows" - a combination of the Mühlviertel starry sky (thanks to minimal light pollution), the neighbouring cattle competence centre and, of course, the stored art ship.
Totally. But also somehow ingenious.
Pichlbauer immediately thought of ASA - the Freistadt-based company with a view into space. After a phone call to Egon Döberl, a few conversations and a good dose of enthusiasm, it was clear:
This is not just a restaging of a work of art, but a new technical product.
