With its first Solar Sky Park, INNOVAMETALL has realized a complete solution for charging infrastructure, renewable energy generation, and storage. Located at the S-10 Freistadt-South exit, the site offers 22 fast-charging points where EV drivers can recharge with green solar power at attractive rates – and cyclists can park or charge their bikes affordably. While charging, visitors can also rent and test different types of e-vehicles.
A new generation of charging infrastructure
Solar Sky Park is an innovative public charging hub for all e-vehicles, featuring a weather-based tariff model. It turns ordinary parking lots into powerful, future-ready charging parks enriched with diverse mobility services. The PV canopy ensures that clean electricity is produced locally – and stays local.

Challenge
To create charging infrastructure that offers more than the standard. To use an existing parking area close to the company to generate electricity through photovoltaic systems. To combine these two components and create a model e-charging park that enables high-performance charging and can also be used for the energy infrastructure of buildings.
Lösung
The Solar Sky canopy is designed in a modular system and delivered as a ready-to-install product, including approved structural calculations and certified glass-glass PV modules. A key unique feature is the all-in-one solution: from foundation works including excavation and substructure, through to installation and commissioning. The prefabricated foundation requires only localized digging of 30 cm, minimizing excavation while keeping all other parking spaces intact. Thanks to its special support structure, no parking spaces are lost. Integrated cable ducts in the roof structure provide routing for PV-DC lines, communication, and power cables – allowing charging points and inverters to be installed without underground cabling. The prefabricated foundation also contains empty conduits for supplying DC charging points.
Without grid expansion and powered by renewable solar energy, visitors and nearby businesses benefit from a future-oriented and innovative mobility infrastructure. Natural daylight through glass-glass PV modules creates a pleasant atmosphere. The fast-charging park at the S-10 exit operates independently, offering protected and comfortable parking with low-cost charging – enabled by direct solar generation.
High-performance storage units secure power supply for both the charging infrastructure and connected buildings. Electricity from the PV canopies can be used on site for a variety of mobility services. The Solar Sky Park also offers e-bikes and tri movers for rent, with energy and mobility management handled by safetydock software. Thus, the Solar Sky Park combines sustainability, efficiency, and innovation to shape the parking spaces of the future.
Result
With a total output of 78.7 kWp from the PV canopy, coupled with the 2,400 kWp PV system at GLUATNEST and the INNOVAMETALL production facility, 22 fast chargers are operated with renewable solar power. By integrating a 600 kWh storage system from neoom (including an additional 100 kWh storage from GLUATNEST), the Solar Sky Park provides not only environmentally friendly energy generation but also reliable energy supply.
For the region, the charging capacity of the park is of great importance: 22 fast-charging points by eww are centrally located directly on the S-10 – an infrastructure of this scale is not available anywhere else nearby. Together with the charging stations and the INNOVAMETALL safetydock mobility station, the Solar Sky Park becomes a hub for sustainable mobility. Thanks to the safetydock software, the park is connected to the building, enabling efficient energy management and access to mobility services such as bicycle parking and bike sharing.
A special highlight is the innovative tariff structure of the Solar Sky Park: those who charge when the sun is shining benefit from especially low prices.
