With the renovation of the town centre, the market town of Pollham has not only rethought the traffic area, but has also consistently developed the bus stop infrastructure. Two new bus shelters were built directly in the town centre - opposite the municipal office, next to the church and fire station - which now form a central hub for public transport.

A project from the centre of the village
The starting point was the remodelling of a central crossroads. As part of this redesign, the existing, outdated small wooden bus shelters were removed and replaced with new, contemporary solutions. The aim was to improve comfort, safety and quality of stay - especially for schoolchildren and those who rely on public transport on a daily basis. The new bus shelters are now located in a place from which almost all important facilities in the town are within walking distance. It was precisely this location that made the realisation a visible and tangible component of the town's development.
Two bus shelters, one system
Two PRIME bus shelters in anthracite grey (RAL 7016) were implemented: A smaller bus shelter, which was installed in December 2025, and a large bus shelter with an integrated bicycle shelter and six parking spaces, which followed in January 2026.
Both designs are characterised by their structural design: The roof consists of a continuous KLH panel with EPDM foil covering and a gradient. This construction method makes it possible to discreetly integrate drainage and lighting under the wooden panel - a technically clean solution and visually unobtrusive.
Both shelters are equipped with a bench. The lighting is provided by all-round LED strips that illuminate the waiting shelter evenly. An integrated motion detector ensures that light is available exactly when it is needed.
Assembly close to the people
The bus shelters were installed in the middle of the local community. The large bus shelter in particular showed how firmly anchored the project is in the local community: the mayor of the market town of Pollham personally visited the site to see how construction was progressing.
The reaction of the schoolchildren was particularly impressive. They watched the work with curiosity, asked questions about the new bus stop and even helped clean the glass panes at the end.
Added value for mobility and the townscape
Today, the PRIME bus shelters are a natural part of the centre of Pollham. They offer protection from the wind and weather, actively promote the "Bike & Ride" principle thanks to the bicycle shelter and blend harmoniously into the revitalised townscape.
As part of a comprehensive infrastructure project, they help to make public transport more attractive and enhance the centre both functionally and in terms of design. The stops are not an isolated element, but a deliberately integrated component of a town centre thoroughfare that is designed for safety, quality and long-term use.
The implementation in Pollham shows what modern bus stop infrastructure can look like if it is conceived and consistently implemented from within the community - close to the people, technically well thought-out and usable in the long term.
A shelter should not only look good, but function in everyday life. With the PRIME, technology, lighting and drainage are integrated so seamlessly that you barely notice them – yet benefit from them every day.
