2025 - The year of premieres

A year full of highlights, new partnerships and international milestones.

When we at INNOVAMETALL look back on the year 2025, one word comes to mind above all others: première. It was a year in which we not only continued along established paths, but deliberatelay broke completely new ground - from the Mühlviertel region all the way to the Atacama Desert. Here is our review of an extraordinary year.

1st premiere: Time to glow - rally fever in the factory hall

The year started with a bang. Together with our partners ASA, eww and VKB-Bank, we organised a top-class event entitled "Time to glow". The Jännerrallye lived up to its reputation as an event highlight - and we were right in the middle of it.

The rally cars drove right through our factory hall! A spectacular regrouping that allowed spectators to experience motorsport up close in a warm indoor setting, with excellent catering. But for us, the Jännerrallye is more than just an economic factor for the region. It served as a real-world test environment: we successfully demonstrated how electric vehicles can take part in a rally under competitive conditions using our mobile charging infrastructure. A strong signal for the future of motorsport.

2nd premiere: INNOVAMETALL international at BAU Munich

The next milestone took us to Germany. To kick off the trade fair year, we presented our sybkon energy balconies at BAU in Munich. The response was overwhelming: we registered the first worldwide interest in our solutions.

In addition to intensive discussions with German housing developers, we established contacts with interested parties from Lithuania, Poland, and even Canada. This internationalisation of our business model brought new challenges – one tangible outcome of the trade fair success was that our product documentation is now available in multiple languages. INNOVAMETALL now speaks internationally.

3rd premiere: Helicopter mission on the Hafelekar

A particularly special moment – also on a personal level for our Managing Director Klaus Pichlbauer – took place high up in the Alps. While the ORBYX dome itself is not a brand-new product, 2025 marked the first time the cooperation with ASA and the ORBYX name were communicated broadly to the public.

A long-standing dream came true when the ORBYX dome "Marietta Blau" was flown to the Hafelekar in Innsbruck by spectacular helicopter transport and installed there. It will provide the University of Innsbruck with valuable services in quantum research over the coming years and hopefully contribute to one or two scientific breakthroughs.

The dream of flying has accompanied me since my youth. In my twenties, as a penniless hang-glider pilot, I was convinced that by 40 I would be a private individual and buy my own helicopter. The idea of landing anywhere in the world, no matter how remote or inaccessible, fascinated me. That exact aspect of the flight to the Hafelekar, combined with a technically new product, made this project a very personal highlight for me.

That the dream of becoming a private individual never materialised is due to the mindset he developed over the course of his professional life:

At some point, there was this conviction that with the right commitment, you can really make a difference. Sustainably. Europe has enormous economic potential, but it takes courage – not carelessness, not risk at any price, but the willingness to allow something new and to take responsibility.

4th premiere: Our first assembly team outside Europe

From the Alps to the Andes: as early as summer, the first INNOVAMETALL installation team set foot on South American soil. In Chile’s Atacama Desert, our experts installed the 4-metre ORBYX ground station and prepared the site for the significantly larger 11-metre version.

The project for the Polish Academy of Sciences at the Rolf Chini Cerro Murphy Observatory is designed for long-term observation of stellar systems. Local conditions push both people and materials to their limits. Assembly of the large 11-metre dome began in December, but wind gusts of up to 100 km/h forced a temporary stop. Safety comes first – final installation is now scheduled for March 2026.

5th premiere: The first sybkon balconies for Germany

There was also a major step forward in our sybkon division. Alongside a strong focus on access balconies, the first delivery of sybkon balconies to Germany was one of the year’s key highlights.

Once again, the strength of cooperation became clear. Together with NOKERA, we developed a special wall connection that allows our balconies to be attached directly to timber elements. The result? A complete point-access building with six residential units was erected in just eight days. Serial construction hardly gets faster than that.

6th Premiere: New system for façade greening in residential buildings

Green facades are more than a trend – they are a vital contribution to climate-resilient construction. In 2025, we developed a new system based on a modular steel structure that enables simple, large-scale facade greening.

It has already been used in a new residential development. In parallel, a pilot project is underway at the GLUATNEST, where different plant species are being tested under long-term conditions.

Outlook: Excitement guaranteed

A lot has happened, but it wouldn’t be INNOVAMETALL if 2026 weren’t set to be just as exciting.

If Europe limits itself to administration, it will be overtaken from all sides. But those who get hands-on, take new paths and turn ideas into market-ready products can keep value creation in the region – just like with ORBYX. Innovation requires commitment. And that is exactly the path we want to continue with INNOVAMETALL.

We can already reveal a sneak preview. Our goal for 2026: The refurbishment to a zero-energy house.

We will share more details in the coming weeks and months here on the blog. Stay tuned.
